Felíz cumpleaños a mí padre

Happy birthday to my Dad! It´s only 6am back home, so I´m hoping I´m the first one to wish him a happy day.

Alright. So. Some problems solved, others arise. I have access to my pics now, but the new problem is uploading them all at once. I will figure this out eventually, so just bear with me until then. I know people are anxious to see pics, though, so I´ll share some now.

I think my favorite BCN tradition so far is breakfast. No big breakfasts of bacon and eggs or french toast here. No, instead it´s café con leche y pasta chocolaté. I could get used to this. :-)

Yesterday I mentioned that I´d taken a ton of pictures of doorways and narrow streets. Here are just some of them.

Since I spent so much time in the Gothic Neighborhood yesterday, I have to share some examples of that, too.

And also, since I was so taken aback by the fact that I got to see actual Roman ruins, here´s a shot of a Roman wall; it was part of early Barcelona´s defense system.
That should do it for now. I´ll post a link to the full set as soon as I figure out how to do it. And if the post ends up all sorts of discombobulated with the pics - I apologize. I´m still not very good at the formatting aspect of this.

  1. That looks like my kind of breakfast. I wish I could sit down and have breakfast with you right now. The pics are cool.

  2. Thanks for the birthday wishes and remember, you need to deliver the next one in person!

Pictures are great, can't wait to see more.

If you're at a place where you take a lot of pictures, it'd be cool to sent a Spot message from there and we may be able to go to Street View on Google maps and act like we're with you :-)

  3. Pictures are wonderful, I can picture you walking down these streets/alleys. Look forward to many more. Love

  4. I'm glad you got the camera situation worked out. I love the last one. I'm sorry to hear about the phone. How frustrating.

How did you not know there were Romans in Spain? Hell there were Romans everywhere! :)

I'm also happy to hear what a great experience you're having with your host. He sounds nice and that's majorly important. How long are you staying in Barcelona?

Keep us up. Can't wait to hear more.

  5. Dad - I´ll try to remember to send SPOT messages at the same time I´m taking a lot of pictures. :-)

V - I think I´ve decided that I will leave for Prague in a week, Monday the 12th. I thought about stopping over in Zurich for a hot second, but it´s going to be prohibitively expensive to get there.

  6. It's probably difficult to try to narrow it down now that you're there and getting the hang of things. Will you travel over land?

  7. No, I will fly to Prague. I found a good price online. . .which is, hopefully, still there when I actually get around to buying the ticket. :-)
